Workshops for Schools & Communities
Physical theatre workshops in clown, bouffon, ensemble creation and puppetry, focused on play, presence, body and group awareness.
My workshops create space for students to take risks, work physically, and discover their own expressive voice. I work with a wide range of groups — from highly energetic to more reserved — and adapt the work to meet them where they are.
CLOWN
Clown work develops presence, play, and a direct relationship with the audience. Students explore failure, vulnerability, and the pleasure of being seen.
-
increased confidence performing in front of others
-
stronger sense of timing and rhythm
-
improvisation skills
-
connection between body, voice, and emotion
BOUFFON
Bouffon explores satire, transformation, and collective play. Students work with exaggeration and mockery to create bold, physical characters and devise material together.
-
physical transformation and character work
-
ensemble-based creation
-
exploration of satire and taboo
-
devising original material
ENSEMBLE THEATRE & PHYSICAL PLAY
This work focuses on group awareness, responsiveness, and non-verbal communication. Students learn to move and think as an ensemble.
-
group timing and responsiveness
-
non-verbal communication
-
spatial awareness
-
collaboration and trust
PUPPETRY
Puppetry introduces object work and physical storytelling. Students bring life to materials and explore character through movement and imagination.
-
object manipulation and animation
-
physical storytelling
-
character creation
-
imaginative play
Who's this for?
Workshops are suitable for primary secondary schools, CEGEP and university programs, arts training environments, and community groups. I have experience working with diverse and mixed-level groups, including neurodivergent participants.
Format & Duration
Workshops can be offered in a range of formats, and can be adapted to the group, space, and time available. I've taught in lengths from 30 minutes (for children mostly) to 2-3 hours, to full days and multi-day intensives with final showings.
Teaching Approach
My approach is embodied, collaborative, and play-based, while maintaining a clear structure and rigor. I aim to create an environment where students feel safe to take risks and develop their own creative voice.
